Michele Eagan: Veterinary Staff in Melrose

Michele Eagan, Practice Manager

I have worked at the Melrose Animal Clinic since 1989. I have “come up through the ranks” so to speak and thoroughly enjoy my current position as Practice Manager. I attended the American Animal Hospital Association Veterinary Management School in Colorado, and I am also a member of the VHMA (Veterinary Hospital Management Association).

Every day is different at the clinic, some are sad, some are happy, but each day always provides a personal sense of fulfillment. I truly have found my passion and feel every day is a learning experience and a chance to cultivate the human/animal bond.

I have a houseful of both human and furry children, currently consisting of two daughters, one son, three dogs, and one kitty that rules us all.

I truly love working with animals, especially in the areas of dental radiology and helping grieving families cope with the loss of their beloved pets.

I have two cuties of my own, a black lab mix named Aquinnah, and a tabby named Tinsel.

When I’m not working, you can find me walking Breakheart with my dog, or in warmer days, at the beach or playing tennis. I love getting to know our patients and clients. It is truly so rewarding to work here!

I came to Melrose Animal Clinic in April 2012. I have over ten years’ experience working in the animal care field. Animals have been my passion since I was young, and it has been a pleasure working alongside such skilled and caring professionals. I love meeting both the two-legged clients and four-legged patients. I live at home with my pets whom I love dearly.

Marci: Veterinary Staff in Melrose

Marci, Certified Veterinary Technician

I am a certified veterinary technician (CVT) and have been working at Melrose Animal Clinic for a little over a year now. I receive my degree in veterinary technology from North Shore Community College in 2000. I love all aspects of my job and try to be the best advocate for the patients. I’m also a big believer of providing a “fear free” experience for all pets.

Outside of work, I enjoy volunteering at a local animal shelter, snuggling with abused/neglected animals. It’s so rewarding to see them receive love and a second chance at life. I also have a fiancé, two awesome kids, my dog, Izzi, and two cats, Purrdie and Moose. I love spending time with them all!

Allison: Veterinary Staff in Melrose

Allison, Certified Veterinary Technician

I joined the Melrose Animal Clinic team in early 2013. I feel so lucky to have become part of what truly feels like a work family, and I am proud of what I get to do with them every day.

I have worked as a veterinary technician since graduation from North Shore Community College in 2003, and I achieved my certification in 2008. As a tech, my primary areas of interest are laboratory procedures, surgical nursing, and client education, especially for new puppy owners. I have also been working as an assistant in the NSCC Vet Tech program’s Surgical Nursing and Anesthesia course since 2011, and I am grateful and honored to help teach vet tech students in a practical setting.

My husband and I have two dogs and one cat: Luna, our mellow Golden Retriever; Petty, our hyperactive black Lab/Hound mix; and Graham, our marshmallow of a tabby. In my free time, I enjoy reading, music, and random trivia.

Brittany: Veterinary Staff in Melrose

Brittany, Certified Veterinary Technician

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to work with animals. To be doing that today at such an incredible practice with an awesome team is more than I could have asked for. I started working towards becoming a technician in high school when I attended Essex Agricultural and Technical High School. After graduating in 2010, I attended UMass Amherst and received my bachelor’s degree in animal science in 2014. That spring, I enrolled in North Shore Community College’s veterinary technology program. As part of the course, I had to complete an internship and that is where my relationship with the MAC began. After completing my summer internship, I was honored to be offered a part-time position as a technician. Following graduation, I began working full-time here and passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam allowing me to become a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT). Since then, I have started working in surgery and I love it! I continue to learn new things every day and grow as a person and as a technician.

When I’m not at work, I can probably be found catering to my “zoo” at home. I currently share my home with my adorable Chiweenie dog, Max, my four cats, Harley Quinn, Nigel, Freya, and Oreo, and my two Cockatiels, Dexter and Diaval. I also enjoy attending as many country concerts as my sister and I can possibly fit into our schedules. So far, our record is three in one week.

I can’t wait to see what my future at the MAC holds. I hope to learn so much more and strive to be the best technician I can be. I look forward to meeting and caring for all of your furry family members!

Nicole: Veterinary Staff in Melrose

Nicole, Certified Veterinary Technician

I joined the MAC family in 2017, first working as a client care representative and now as a certified veterinary technician. I am a graduate from the Veterinary Technology program at North Shore Community College as of May 2018. I also passed my national board exam (VTNE) in August 2018, enabling me to work as a certified veterinary technician.

When I am not helping to take care of everyone’s furry family members, you can find me cuddling my own. During the nice weather, you can find me on the beach with a good book or kayaking. When winter rolls around, I try to get in as much fun outdoor activities with my family as weather permits. And let’s not forget about our wonderful New England sports teams, which I enjoy immensely.

Bianca: Veterinary Staff in Melrose

Bianca, AS, Certified Veterinary Technician

I must say that I love my job here at the Melrose Animal Clinic and appreciate the opportunity I’ve had to meet all of our wonderful staff and clients. I have a special interest in establishing relationships with our clients and their furry family, forming bonds that last a lifetime.

I have three dogs at home: a Labrador named Sam and two Chihuahuas named Mika and Milo. In my spare time, I like to travel abroad. I recently traveled to Bali, Indonesia and spent my time traveling the country and working on a turtle farm. I’m hoping to travel more in the future. See you and your pets soon!

Emily: Veterinary Staff in Melrose

Emily F., Certified Veterinary Technician

I have worked at Melrose Animal Clinic since June of 2016 and have been a veterinary technician for over eight years. I went to North Shore Community College for its veterinary technician program and have been a certified veterinary technician since 2015.

Outside of work, I am involved in dog and cat rescue programs and foster kittens and cats for local rescues. I have many rescued cats and dogs of my own! In my spare time, I enjoy reading, fishing, and fostering bottle-fed baby kittens.

Heidi: Veterinary Staff in Melrose

Heidi, Veterinary Technician

I joined the Melrose Animal Clinic team in October 2013. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in zoology. I have always had a passion for animals and have been working as a veterinary technician for almost six years.

I have a dog and a cat at home: Ella, a very energetic chocolate lab, and Oliver, a lazy orange tabby. In my spare time, I enjoy trail walks with Ella, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.

Andrew: Veterinary Staff in Melrose

Andrew, Veterinary Technician

I have always been a huge animal lover but never knew it would turn into a career someday. I didn’t have much of a choice growing up in a house with my mother who you could definitely call a crazy cat lady! We always had three cats while I was growing up along with little critters like gerbils, frogs, and fish. It wasn’t until I adopted my Pit Bull, Horatio, in 2012, that I knew I needed to get into a field involving animals. He has been my inspiration to advocate for such a misunderstood breed and someday, hopefully, I’ll start my own rescue. I started working with animals at a small shelter in 2013, the same place I adopted my pooch from, helping with socialization of dogs, training, home checks, and visits to the vet.

I got my first job as a technician in early 2014 and joined the MAC team in the summer of 2015. Although I am a relatively new member of this great group of people, I feel like I have been working here forever. I am very grateful to have an opportunity to learn and help animals in need at such an excellent hospital with an even better staff!

I graduated from Merrimack College in the spring of 2013. In my spare time, I cater to my dog’s every need and coordinate play dates with his uncountable amount of lady friends. I also enjoy taking in as many Sox, Celtics, Patriots, and Bruins games as physically possible. Hope to see you and your furry families soon!

Erin: Veterinary Staff in Melrose

Erin, Veterinary Technician

I started working at Melrose Animal Clinic in March 2018 as a Client Care Representative. I am currently attending North Shore Community College and studying veterinary technology. My goal is to become a certified veterinary technician. At home, I have a Chihuahua mix named Wally, whom I adopted. He keeps me busy when I am not at work. I also enjoy skiing, traveling, eating teddy grahams, and going out to eat with my friends.

Katie M: Veterinary Staff in Melrose

Katie, Veterinary Technician

Over the years, I have always brought my animals to the MAC. I consistently had pleasant experiences here, and now I am fortunate enough to be part of the team. I graduated from North Shore Community College in May 2014 from the Animal Care program. I’m grateful to have great relationships with my peers here and the clients as well.

I have a Yorkie named Kandy and a kitty named Nala. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to work with animals because I have such a passion for them. There has always been a special place in my heart for them. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and also traveling. In the future, I plan to continue to help animals and strive to become a better “me.”

Katie F: Veterinary Staff in Melrose

Katie, Veterinary Technician

I joined the Melrose Animal Clinic family in September 2011. I never thought I’d be so happy to come to work every day! I have always had such a strong passion for animals ever since I was a child. I hope to take my VTNE test in the near future to become certified. The staff and clients make the clinic such a warm and comfortable place to spend every day. It’s so rewarding to be able to help improve the lives of the sick and healthy all day long.

I have two cats, Bubba and Rosie, and a very sweet Border Collie named Kali. Kali is the most lovable, loyal, and sweetest girl you will ever meet. She has endless energy and is always by my side. She is extremely smart, but don’t give her a ball or she won’t leave you alone for days. Bubba (also known as Petie) was my grandmother’s cat. When my grandmother passed away, Bubba desperately needed a home. He has grown up knowing only my grandmother, and was very fearful and could be aggressive, so it was almost impossible finding him a new home, but he had taken a liking to me. When everyone had given up on him, I decided to take him home to join my family. It’s been a tough year trying to get him adjusted to his new home, and living with another cat and a dog, but he has come so far. He has made such progress, and I am so glad I gave him a chance to live out his life. He is a whole twenty pounds of special, but he is an Olympic snuggle bug and I love him dearly. Rosie, even with her princess attitude, is so full of spice and we adore her, it is quite comical watching the two of them battle it out.

Courtney, Veterinary Technician

I have loved animals all of my life and always knew veterinary medicine was my calling.  I had my own dog walking business when I was younger and volunteered at the local animal shelter.  I entered into the veterinary field as an assistant in high school and have since been a veterinary technician for the past 5 years.  I joined the MAC in July 2019 and have loved every minute I spend with my new work family.  My goal is to one day become a veterinarian, but for now, you can find me at home with my two dogs: Avery and Simon,  and my three cats:  Angel, Mousse, and Willow!
